This book covers the physical and chemical processes for treatingwater and wastewater. The first part describes thefundamental tools for investigating and studying water andwastewater treatment processes. The second part describes processesfor removing soluble contaminants from water. The third isconcerned with the processes for removing particulate materialsfrom water. These processes (or some subset of them) are oftenperformed in series, and the order of the chapters reflects theorder of their appearance in a treatment train. Anextensive chapter on membrane processes closes the book; membraneprocesses are used to remove both soluble and particulatematerials. Compared to the AWWA and MWH books about water treatment whichserve more as references, this book is designed as a comprehensivetextbook and a teaching tool. While these books concentrate ondrinking water treatment, this textbook deals equally withindustrial and waste treatment processes and has a heavier focus ondetailed application of theory
