This book covers the fundamentals and applications of the four primary medical imaging techniques: X-ray or computed tomography, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging. Each chapter covers the physical principles, instrument design, data acquisition, image reconstruction and clinical application of each modality. The first chapter deals with the characteristics of medical images in general. The book also incorporates the latest technology, such as multi-slice spiral CT, PET-CT and PET-MRIscanners, 4-dimensional ultrasound, and phased-array MRI technology.
