摘要:
内容简介:
Drapac charts the changing nature of the Yugoslav ideal over a century and a half., showing why Yugoslavism was championed at different times, and by whom. The book begins with a study of nineteenth-century perceptions of 'Savage Europe' and the South Slav 'race', which, it was said, seemed poised to fulfil its destiny to become a nation. By the 1920s, however, the nation was in search of a defining identity, and the author explores why this quest proved elusive.
